We do research and development of devices that use miniature accelerometers that are able to detect vibrations that are measured in terms of acceleration (m/s^2). The detectors are made with MEMS technology that incorporates Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Sistems together with microtechnology. Probably best know usage of accelerometers is in cars where they detect collision and trigger the inflation of an airbag. They are also used in pedometers or in other devices used in sports training (Nike, Polar).
We have developed an apparatus (Med-X) that can measure accelerations in arbitrary events and store the results to an SD card (such cards are frequently used in cameras and computers for further processing. The apparatus is used by scientists, researchers and industry to measure and analyse vibrations, accelerations, forces, small movements, velocities, inclinations, etc.
Currently we are developing a device which will be used by trainers and athletes that want to analyse and improve their activities in sports. More precisely, the device is intended to measure accelerations and velocities during a jump on a springboard. Its use will be particulary usefull for trainers to optimize the training of the jump, selection of proper springboard, detremination of optimal jump parameters etc. The device can work stand-alone but can be also connected to a computer for more elaborate analysis.
