KHK (Kempen University College) already worked together with Innotek in the Interreg ‘Spin-off pilot project’ and is also leading partner for the further dissemination and continuation of the project in the Kempen area as well as in Flanders. KHK has more than 50 years expertise in educating students and adults. One of the strengths of KHK is the close relation with the local SME’s. Therefore we have a great advantage in the knowledge of the latest management techniques (HR, Marketing, Financial, ICT, Project management, …) applied in SME-business. This knowledge is also transferred to the students through ‘project based education’. At the KHK we run of course Small Business Projects. Part of this, the project leader from KHK, Marc Clerkx, is also active as PLATO-counsellor and has actively participated (as teacher for the module ‘Market and Marketing’ and participant throughout the whole project) in the Interreg ‘Spin-off pilot project’. Since 2005, KHK has started a ‘research centre for local economic policy’, and one of the three main topics of this research centre is ‘entrepreneurship’ (next to sustained consumer behaviour and local government policy). LS is also the coordinator of this research centre.
Last but not least, both partners have also the technical infrastructure for ‘Video Conferencing’, an important tool to be used in the transfer of knowledge.
